Fill Line
Free tools for candle makers who sell

Know what goes in the jar, and what it really costs.

Fill Line is four small calculators for people who pour candles at home and sell them on Etsy, at markets or to local shops: how much wax and oil to melt, what one candle costs once your time is in, what you keep after fees, and what goes on the label.

Why these four

Built from what candle makers actually ask.

We read through threads on r/candlemaking and r/EtsySellers. The same four problems kept coming up.

  • If you price at $14 thinking you’re making $8.50, you’re actually making $5.51, and that’s before Etsy takes roughly 10% or the market booth fee.r/candlemakingCost & price puts your time, overhead and the fragrance oil in, then Profit by channel takes the fees out.
  • I’m horrible with math and the fragrance is confusing me… let’s say my mold is 8oz so that’s .8 correct?r/candlemakingNot quite: at 10% of the wax, an 8 oz candle is 7.27 oz wax and 0.73 oz oil. The pour calculator does it for the whole batch.
  • What would be a reasonable price to charge the store per candle? I don’t want to overcharge them … but I also don’t want to undersell myself.r/candlemakingCost & price works out a wholesale price from your true cost, and a retail price a shop can still sell at.
  • Stickers. I’m reading different things. What is mandatory?r/candlemakingLabel wording gives you the usual warning text and a checklist, with links to the sources.

An Excel and Google Sheets file you download and keep. It’s a spreadsheet, not an app: no login, no subscription.

The tools on this site handle one candle at a time. The spreadsheet keeps your whole range in one place:

  • A supply list: enter each wax, oil, vessel, wick and label once, with what you paid
  • Every candle you make on one sheet, with wax and oil amounts, true cost, wholesale and retail
  • A wholesale quote sheet for shop orders, with deposit and balance
  • An orders log and a monthly revenue and profit summary
  • An example file with sample candles, plus a blank one for your own
